The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has appreciated the efforts of Rajasthan State Transmission Corporation Limited (RVPNL) in bringing transparency to the state’s power sector and has recommended that other states adopt similar practices. The initiative has been recognized as a best practice for providing clear and timely information on the availability of transmission capacity at state grid substations.

RVPNL has been regularly updating details of additional transmission capacity at its 400 kV, 220 kV, and 132 kV grid substations on its official website. This information helps renewable energy project developers understand grid availability, reducing uncertainty and enabling them to make informed investment decisions. By providing transparent and up-to-date data, Rajasthan has made it easier for developers to plan projects effectively and adhere to project timelines.

The initiative has not only improved project planning but also strengthened the integration of renewable energy into the state grid. The MNRE has instructed all State Transmission Utilities (STUs) to follow this example and regularly make information about available transmission capacity publicly accessible. Rajasthan’s model has been specifically cited as an example for the rest of the country.

The government aims to increase transparency, promote ease of doing business, and support renewable energy and industrial or commercial consumers in planning their projects efficiently. By adopting this system, RVPNL has set a significant example for the power sector.

Experts believe that such initiatives help in building a more robust and investment-friendly environment in the energy sector. The timely availability of information allows developers to plan projects without delays and ensures smoother grid integration of renewable energy. Rajasthan’s approach demonstrates how transparency and good governance can support the growth of renewable energy and create a more predictable environment for investors and developers alike.

With the central government encouraging other states to adopt similar measures, this initiative could set the stage for a more efficient and transparent power sector across India.
