Eastman Auto & Power Limited has announced the operationalization of an 800 MW (0.80 GW) solar PV panel and module manufacturing facility in Sonipat, marking a significant step in the company’s efforts to strengthen domestic solar manufacturing and support India’s renewable energy ambitions.
The new manufacturing unit enhances Eastman’s presence in the clean energy sector and positions the company as a backward-integrated solar solutions provider. With the facility now operational, Eastman will offer integrated capabilities across solar PV panels and modules, grid-tied, off-grid, and hybrid inverters, along with advanced energy storage batteries.
The company said the development aligns with its strategy to promote integrated “solar with storage” solutions that combine solar power generation with energy storage systems. These integrated solutions are designed to provide reliable and uninterrupted power supply across residential, commercial, and industrial segments.
Commenting on the development, Shekhar Singal said the company aims to strengthen India’s domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem while accelerating the adoption of integrated clean energy technologies.
He noted that the company is focused on developing solutions that combine high-quality solar modules with advanced energy storage systems to support initiatives such as PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which seeks to boost rooftop solar installations across the country.
According to Eastman, the solar panels and modules manufactured at the Sonipat facility comply with Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) norms and standards set by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The company stated that the locally manufactured components will help reduce dependence on imported solar equipment while supporting government-backed renewable energy programmes.
The facility also aligns with the government’s Make in India initiative by promoting indigenous manufacturing and strengthening the domestic renewable energy supply chain.
With the commissioning of the new manufacturing plant, Eastman Auto & Power aims to expand its footprint in India’s growing solar market while contributing to the country’s long-term sustainability and clean energy transition goals.
