Founder Group Limited has secured a new contract worth about $8.6 million under the Large Scale Solar (LSS) programme in Malaysia, marking another important development in the country’s renewable energy sector. Under the agreement, the company will carry out the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) of a large-scale solar photovoltaic plant. This means Founder Group will handle the entire process, starting from designing the system and sourcing solar equipment to building the plant and connecting it to the national power grid. Once completed, the project is expected to generate clean electricity and support the growing energy demand in the region.

The Large Scale Solar programme is designed as a competitive bidding platform where companies compete to deliver cost-effective and efficient solar solutions. Founder Group’s success in securing this contract shows its strong technical expertise and ability to offer competitive pricing. The company has already been involved in similar projects, and this new contract further strengthens its presence in Southeast Asia’s solar market.

The company has stated that the contract will improve its order book and provide better visibility for future revenue. This is seen as a positive development by industry observers, as demand for solar projects continues to grow across the region. Many countries are focusing on renewable energy to meet climate targets and ensure long-term energy security.

In addition to business benefits, the project is expected to support the local economy. It will create job opportunities during the construction phase and generate work for related sectors such as engineering and supply chains. Such projects also help build local expertise in renewable energy development.

Malaysia aims to achieve a 31% share of renewable energy in its power mix by 2025. Projects under the LSS programme play a key role in reaching this target. By participating in these initiatives, Founder Group is contributing to the country’s transition toward cleaner energy sources.

Overall, the new contract highlights the growing importance of solar energy in the region. It also shows how companies like Founder Group are playing a key role in supporting sustainable development while expanding their business operations.
