Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited has strengthened its position in India’s renewable energy sector by securing new domestic orders worth around INR 3,550 crore. The announcement, made on April 20, 2026, reflects the company’s growing momentum and its ability to win large-scale solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts.

A major share of this order book comes from Coal India Limited, marking the first collaboration between the two companies. SWREL has emerged as the L1 bidder for a turnkey EPC package involving the development of a grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) project with a capacity of 875 MW AC. The project will be located in Bikaner, a region that has become a key hub for solar energy development due to its high solar irradiance. The total value of this contract, including construction, long-term operation and maintenance (O&M), and applicable taxes, is estimated at approximately INR 3,490 crore.

In addition to this large project, SWREL has also secured another order from a domestic private independent power producer for a 50 MW AC solar project in Maharashtra. These combined wins have pushed the company’s total EPC order inflows for the financial year 2025–26 beyond INR 10,062 crore, surpassing its internal targets.

Commenting on the achievement, Global CEO Chandra Kishore Thakur highlighted the significance of partnering with Coal India for the first time. He stated that the company has closed an eventful fiscal year on a strong note and remains optimistic about future growth opportunities in India’s rapidly expanding renewable energy market.

SWREL operates as a global pure-play renewable EPC solutions provider, offering services across utility-scale solar, floating solar, wind energy, and energy storage segments. The company has built a strong global footprint with a portfolio exceeding 26.1 GWp, which includes both commissioned and under-construction projects. Additionally, it manages an O&M portfolio of around 10.1 GWp, including projects developed by third parties.

With operations spanning 28 countries across regions such as Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Australia, and the Americas, SWREL continues to expand its global reach while maintaining a strong focus on the Indian market.

Listed on major stock exchanges, SWREL remains a key player in supporting India’s clean energy transition. The latest order wins underline the increasing demand for large-scale solar infrastructure as the country works toward achieving its renewable energy targets and strengthening its sustainable power capacity.
