Indian Green Energy Stocks Trade Mixed Amid Weak Broader Market (24 July 2026)

The Indian green energy sector witnessed mixed trading on July 24, 2026, as renewable energy and clean mobility stocks showed varied performance despite weakness in the broader equity markets. Investor sentiment remained cautious after the benchmark indices ended the day in negative territory. The S&P BSE SENSEX closed at 76,141.27, down 0.33%, while the NIFTY 50 settled at 23,772.70, registering a decline of 0.41%.

Even with the broader market under pressure, several green energy companies managed to post gains. Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) was among the strongest performers in the sector, rising nearly 2% to around ₹124.25 on the BSE. The stock attracted buying interest as investors continued to monitor developments in the country’s power trading market.

Electric mobility company Olectra Greentech also ended the session in positive territory, gaining more than 1.5% to close at ₹1,339.20. Adani Green Energy added over 1% to reach ₹1,397.50, reflecting steady investor confidence in the renewable energy developer. Wind energy company Inox Wind recorded a gain of 1.17%, ending the day at ₹77.10.

Other renewable energy stocks also registered modest gains. Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy advanced around 0.8% to ₹208.05, while Borosil Renewables increased 0.67% to ₹581.95. Exide Industries, Praj Industries, and Reliance Industries also finished slightly higher, recording gains between 0.2% and 0.5%.

On the losing side, several energy and utility companies ended the day in the red. GAIL was among the biggest decliners, falling around 1.1% to ₹170.15. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) also dropped about 1% to close at ₹138.55. NTPC Green Energy declined roughly 0.9% to ₹96.36, while JSW Energy slipped around 0.8% to ₹552.50.

Other stocks that recorded losses included Insolation Energy, which fell 0.79% to ₹112.55. Tata Power and Websol Energy also ended slightly lower, each declining by less than 0.5%. Engineering and infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro remained largely unchanged, closing marginally lower by 0.12% at ₹3,789.15.

Among individual stock movements, Kabra Extrusion emerged as one of the top gainers in the broader green energy space with a sharp 8.1% rise. In contrast, EKI Energy Services declined by 1.4%.

Overall, the trading session highlighted a mixed trend across India’s green energy sector. Strength in power exchange, electric mobility, wind energy, and renewable engineering stocks helped offset some of the weakness seen in oil, gas, and conventional power companies. While broader market sentiment remained subdued, selective buying in renewable energy stocks indicated continued investor interest in India’s clean energy and energy transition sector.
