India’s Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh, is set to participate virtually in the Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa (NEISA 2026), scheduled from May 18 to 21 in Kigali, Rwanda. The summit, organised by the Rwanda Atomic Energy Board in collaboration with international nuclear and energy organisations, will focus on advancing nuclear energy deployment and financing across Africa.

Held under the theme “Powering Africa’s Future: Turning Nuclear Energy Ambition into Investable Reality,” the event will bring together global policymakers, regulators, investors, technology providers and energy experts to discuss the role of nuclear power in supporting industrialisation, energy security and low-carbon growth.

The summit agenda includes discussions on small modular reactors (SMRs), financing mechanisms, regulatory frameworks, workforce development and integration of advanced technologies into clean energy systems. Organisers say the event aims to help African nations move from policy discussions to implementation-ready nuclear projects.

For the broader clean energy industry, NEISA 2026 highlights the growing global emphasis on combining multiple low-carbon technologies — including nuclear, solar, storage and hydrogen — to ensure reliable and sustainable power supply. The summit also reflects increasing international cooperation on energy transition strategies and infrastructure investment.
