Global electronics manufacturer Foxconn is set to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy infrastructure in Vietnam through a strategic collaboration with Brookfield, supporting the company’s growing demand for clean electricity across its manufacturing operations and supply chain.
The initiative aims to facilitate the development of up to 1 GW of renewable energy capacity, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects, underscoring the increasing role of corporate energy procurement in advancing clean energy deployment across Southeast Asia.
The partnership is expected to provide long-term access to renewable power for Foxconn’s facilities in Vietnam, where the company continues to expand its manufacturing footprint amid rising global demand for sustainable supply chains. The projects will be developed and financed by Brookfield through its renewable energy and energy transition investment platforms.
As multinational manufacturers face growing pressure to reduce carbon emissions and meet sustainability commitments, direct investments in renewable energy are emerging as a key strategy for securing low-carbon electricity while enhancing energy security and cost predictability.
Vietnam has become a major destination for global manufacturing investment, attracting companies seeking to diversify supply chains and strengthen regional production capabilities. The country’s renewable energy sector has also experienced rapid growth in recent years, creating opportunities for industrial consumers to source cleaner electricity for their operations.
The planned renewable energy portfolio is expected to incorporate battery energy storage systems alongside solar and wind generation, enabling greater reliability and flexibility in power supply. Energy storage is increasingly being viewed as a critical component of industrial decarbonization strategies, helping balance intermittent renewable generation and ensure stable electricity availability.
The collaboration reflects a broader trend in which large corporate energy consumers are playing a more active role in driving renewable energy development. Rather than relying solely on utility-provided green power, manufacturers are increasingly entering long-term procurement agreements to support dedicated renewable energy projects aligned with their sustainability objectives.
The initiative also aligns with Vietnam’s efforts to expand renewable energy capacity and establish frameworks that enable direct renewable energy procurement, positioning the country as an emerging hub for clean energy-powered manufacturing in the region.
