ACCIONA Energía is set to begin site mobilization for its new Fleming Solar Farm in Fleming County, Kentucky, marking an important step toward expanding its renewable energy portfolio in the United States. The 235 MWp solar project is scheduled to start commercial operations in May 2028 and will become the company’s fifth photovoltaic plant and its 18th renewable energy facility in the country.
The new solar farm is part of ACCIONA Energía’s ongoing efforts to increase clean energy generation in the United States. The company currently operates around 3 GW of installed renewable energy capacity across the country. Its portfolio includes solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, wind power, and energy storage projects, supporting the transition to a more sustainable energy system.
The Fleming Solar Farm is also expected to bring economic benefits to the local community. During the construction phase, the project is expected to create up to 300 jobs, providing employment opportunities for workers in Kentucky. ACCIONA Energía has stated that it will give preference to local contractors, suppliers, and service providers during both the construction and operational stages of the project, helping support regional businesses.
In addition to job creation, the project is expected to generate tax revenue that will contribute to public services and infrastructure improvements in Fleming County. The company has already supported the local community by providing donations and assistance to fire departments and community organizations during the project’s development phase.
ACCIONA Energía plans to continue these community initiatives throughout construction and operations under its Social Impact Management Program. The program will focus on education, health and wellness, environmental protection, and community development, reinforcing the company’s commitment to creating long-term social and economic value alongside clean energy development.
