Havells Enters India’s Battery Energy Storage Market Through Strategic Collaboration with Pixii AS

Havells India Limited has entered the battery energy storage segment through a strategic collaboration with Norway-based energy storage technology company Pixii AS to develop and introduce advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for the Indian market. The partnership aims to combine Havells’ manufacturing capabilities and market presence with Pixii’s modular energy storage technology to address growing demand across residential, commercial, and industrial segments.

The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in the presence of Norway’s Ambassador to India, H.E. Ms. May-Elin Stener, along with senior representatives from the Embassy of Norway, Havells India, and Pixii AS.

Under the phased roadmap, the companies will initially undertake pilot installations to validate commercial opportunities and assess market requirements. The collaboration also includes plans to co-develop an all-in-one energy storage solution, followed by local manufacturing in India and the development of products tailored to the needs of Indian customers.

Commenting on the collaboration, Reshu Madan, SBU Head – Renewables at Havells India, said the partnership brings global energy storage innovation to India as the country accelerates its clean energy transition. Aseem Goyal, BU Head – Renewables, added that the collaboration strengthens Havells’ renewable energy portfolio while supporting the company’s localization strategy and India’s sustainability goals. Thomas Ingebretsen, CEO of Pixii AS, said the partnership combines Pixii’s energy storage technology with Havells’ manufacturing strength, market expertise, and extensive customer reach to deliver advanced energy storage solutions for Indian consumers and businesses.

According to the companies, India’s residential and commercial & industrial (C&I) Battery Energy Storage System market is projected to reach approximately ₹10,000–12,000 crore by FY2030, driven by rapid renewable energy adoption and increasing demand for reliable power infrastructure. Through the collaboration, Havells and Pixii aim to introduce globally proven BESS technology, promote local innovation, and contribute to the development of a sustainable energy ecosystem in India.
