Enphase Energy Expands Global IQ9N Rollout with Launch of GaN-Based Residential Solar Microinverters in Australia and New Zealand

Enphase Energy has announced the launch of its IQ9N™ Microinverters for the residential solar market in Australia and New Zealand, expanding the global rollout of its latest microinverter technology following recent introductions in Europe and the United States.

The company said the IQ9N Microinverters are built using gallium nitride (GaN) technology and are designed to support the latest generation of high-power solar modules. The product is backed by a 25-year limited warranty and delivers up to 427 VA of continuous output power while supporting 16 A of continuous DC current to maximise energy production from each solar panel.

According to Enphase, the new microinverters are compatible with IQ® Batteries and are backward compatible with the company’s IQ7™ and IQ8™ Series Microinverters, allowing homeowners to expand existing solar systems using similar installation methods and accessories.

The company said the adoption of GaN technology enables peak efficiency of up to 97.95%, improves thermal performance, and enhances long-term reliability. The microinverters are also designed to optimise power generation under partial shading, complex roof configurations, and high-temperature operating conditions, making them well suited to the climatic conditions of Australia and New Zealand.

Unlike conventional string inverter systems, IQ9N Microinverters convert direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) at each individual solar module. Enphase said this distributed architecture improves system safety by eliminating long high-voltage DC cable runs while ensuring unaffected panels continue generating electricity if one module experiences shading, soiling, or operational issues.

The IQ9N Microinverters comply with AS/NZS 4777.2:2020 grid standards and are listed by Australia’s Clean Energy Council (CEC). The units feature a corrosion-resistant, double-insulated polymer enclosure, an operating temperature range of -40°C to +65°C, integrated rapid shutdown capability, and support real-time performance monitoring through the Enphase App, including over-the-air software updates.

Enphase said the products are now available through its authorised distribution partners across Australia and New Zealand. The launch forms part of the company’s broader strategy to expand access to advanced distributed solar technologies in key residential rooftop solar markets.
