Ascent Solar Reports H1 2026 Commercial Growth, Expands Thin-Film Solar Technology Across Space, Marine and High-Altitude Markets

U.S.-based Ascent Solar Technologies Inc. has outlined its commercial achievements during the first half of 2026 and unveiled strategic priorities aimed at accelerating growth across the remainder of the year, with a continued focus on expanding its footprint in the space, marine and high-altitude solar markets.

The company reported a steady expansion of its customer base, driven by demand for its featherweight, flexible thin-film photovoltaic (PV) technology. While space applications remain its primary market, Ascent said it is also targeting opportunities in marine and high-altitude platform station/high-altitude long-endurance (HAPS/HALE) applications.

“We’ve experienced significant momentum in the first half of 2026, most notably through the expansion of our customer base,” said Paul Warley, Chief Executive Officer of Ascent Solar Technologies. He added that the company expects sales revenue and its customer base to continue growing during the second half of the year as product efficiency improves and market demand increases.

Among its key milestones during H1 2026, Ascent successfully fulfilled prepaid customer orders for thin-film PV products destined for space, HAPS/HALE and specialized terrestrial applications. The company also completed Atomic Oxygen exposure testing on its space solar products, with the modules showing no damage when protected by a 1 mil fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) barrier and encapsulant.

Ascent further advanced the development of its photovoltaic modules for space-based power beaming and receiving applications, addressing growing demand for energy transmission technologies in orbit.

On the commercial front, the company expanded business development efforts through CEO-led engagements across Europe, including participation in the 2026 SATShow and 2026 SOF Conference, where it established new industry relationships and generated commercial leads. Additionally, Ascent closed a private placement of up to US$25 million to support its growth initiatives.

Looking ahead, Ascent plans to strengthen its commercial momentum by expanding relationships with new and existing customers, securing repeat orders across multiple sectors and further enhancing its thin-film PV technology.

The company also intends to conduct advanced environmental testing to validate product performance in the harsh conditions of space and marine environments. Other priorities include continuing the development of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and HAPS solar arrays for European partners and advancing collaborative space prototype deployment projects through existing strategic partnerships.

Ascent said it expects these initiatives to support broader customer adoption and revenue growth through the second half of 2026 while reinforcing its position in emerging markets for lightweight solar technologies.
