NTPC Ltd. reported a strong financial performance for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, with higher profitability supported by operational efficiencies, capacity additions and improved contributions from group companies.
On a standalone basis, the state-owned power utility reported total income of ₹44,512 crore for Q1 FY27, up 3% from the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. Profit after tax (PAT) increased to ₹5,342 crore, compared with ₹4,775 crore in Q1 FY26, driven primarily by gains from newly commissioned capacity and improved operational performance.
At the consolidated level, NTPC Group posted a 13% year-on-year increase in profit after tax to ₹6,896 crore, up from ₹6,108 crore in the same quarter last year. The company said the performance was supported by a 62% increase in profit from group companies, which rose to ₹1,832 crore from ₹1,131 crore in Q1 FY26.
NTPC’s coal-based power stations continued to outperform the national average in operational efficiency during the quarter. The company’s coal fleet recorded a Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 76.71%, compared with the Rest of India Coal PLF of 70.32%, reflecting higher plant utilisation.
The company said the quarterly performance reinforces its leadership position in India’s power sector, supported by operational excellence and continued expansion across its diversified power generation portfolio.
