DEWA has reported a significant rise in the use of its Hab-Reeh smart platform, highlighting the growing adoption of digital tools to support solar energy development in Dubai. During the first half of 2026, the platform recorded a 17% increase in usage compared to the same period in 2025, reflecting greater participation from consultants and contractors involved in photovoltaic (PV) solar projects.
The Hab-Reeh platform is designed to help consultants and contractors carry out self-assessments of PV solar system designs before submitting them for approval under DEWA’s Shams Dubai initiative. By allowing users to verify their designs in advance, the platform has significantly reduced the time required for project approvals while improving the quality of applications submitted.
According to DEWA, the platform has enabled all submitted designs to achieve full compliance with power quality standards during the application stage. This has resulted in faster approval procedures and improved design accuracy, helping streamline the overall project development process.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DEWA, said the utility continues to invest in advanced technologies that simplify and accelerate processes for contractors, consultants and strategic partners. He noted that the Hab-Reeh platform supports Dubai’s transition towards net-zero emissions by promoting greater adoption of clean and renewable energy while ensuring projects meet the highest technical standards. He also highlighted that the platform has received a seven-star rating at the International Best Practice Competition, recognizing it as a leading digital solution for supporting solar energy deployment.
Abdulla Al Aghbari, Acting Executive Vice President of Power and Water Planning at DEWA, explained that the platform enables users to check compliance with power quality requirements, particularly those related to harmonic emissions. These emissions can create electrical distortions that affect customer installations and the overall electricity network. Early verification helps improve system reliability, optimize equipment performance, extend equipment lifespan, and enhance the resilience of the power grid.
DEWA has also integrated the Hab-Reeh platform with its Getting Solar Permits and Connection service, allowing consultants and contractors to complete harmonic self-assessments and submit design approval requests through a single process. The integrated service reduces time, cost, and administrative effort while improving the customer experience. Additionally, the platform supports unlimited design configurations using any combination of solar inverters from DEWA’s approved list of around 180 models, enabling customized solutions for a wide range of solar projects.
