ENGIE, Legrand Sign France’s First 24/7 Renewable Electricity Supply Agreement

ENGIE and Legrand have signed France’s first 24/7 renewable electricity supply agreement, introducing an hourly renewable electricity matching model designed to accelerate industrial decarbonization and improve transparency in corporate renewable energy procurement. The agreement covers renewable electricity supply for all of Legrand’s operations in France during the 2029–2031 period.

The companies said the agreement builds on their existing collaboration, which already includes long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs), and represents the next phase of Legrand’s climate strategy. Unlike conventional renewable electricity contracts that match renewable generation and consumption on an annual basis, the new 24/7 model aims to align renewable electricity generation with consumption on an hour-by-hour basis.

Under the agreement, ENGIE will supply electricity from a diversified portfolio of renewable energy assets across multiple generation sites. The model targets 70% hourly matching between renewable electricity generation and consumption, supported by regular performance monitoring. It also incorporates certification based on the EnergyTag international standard, ensuring greater transparency and traceability, while remaining compatible with evolving GHG Protocol requirements and the RE100 corporate renewable electricity initiative.

ENGIE said the agreement demonstrates its ability to provide tailored energy solutions that combine decarbonization, operational simplicity, and economic performance for industrial customers. The company added that the model supports the growing demand for more granular and verifiable renewable electricity sourcing as businesses strengthen their sustainability commitments.
