A subsidy of upto 80 percent of the total cost of installing rooftop solar panels will be provided to families with an annual income below Rs 3 lakh to encourage them to do so.

Hemant Soren, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, will unveil the 2022 Jharkhand Solar Policy on July 5. This policy, which seeks to create employment, growth opportunities, and sustainability, was also announced by the official.

The state currently generates less that 45 MW of solar power.

“The new policy is progressive, and investors will be happy with it.” Bijay Kumar Sinha, project director at Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Agency(JREDA), told PTI that land rules have been simplified. He also said that several other projects like solar floating projects or canal top solar projects were now included in the new policy.
