ALEC Energy announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering. This MoU will allow the two renewable energy experts to leverage their expertise to help private and public sector organizations meet and exceed the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 goals.
The UAE’s energy agenda aims to double the amount of clean energy in the energy mix by 2025. It also aims to improve the efficiency of consumers and corporations by up to 40%. These goals are achievable, even though they may seem lofty. However, there is a need to shift the mindset of engineers and designers in the region. Organisations need expert guidance through the economic, environmental, and social aspects of decarbonising their businesses. Kez Taylor, CEO of ALEC Group, stated that we have partnered with Stantec to create a framework for the region that will guide the UAE towards its renewable energy goals.
The agreement will see the companies collaborate on projects that establish best practices for building design, systems and services. Additionally, they will offer solutions to Net Zero depending on the individual undertakings. Stantec’s experience in sustainable design strategies and design enhancement will complement ALEC Energy’s track record in the execution of complex solar energy project implementations. The companies will also share their knowledge with industry stakeholders and sponsor events, training programs, and workshops.
“To meet the ambitious climate targets set by the GCC, innovation and collaboration are essential,” Anas Kassem said. He is the regional managing director of Stantec’s Middle East operations. “This MoU with ALEC Energy strengthens our commitment to supporting our client’s efforts to achieve renewable energy goals and secure a sustainable future.
