The Union Minister of State for Finance Dr Bhagwat Kard claimed Wednesday that the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi government (MVA) did not grant permission for the study of a floating solar energy project at Jayakwadi dam, Maharashtra, reports PTI.
He stated that the current alliance government consisting of the Eknath Shinde led Shiv Sena faction as well as BJP has now given the green light for the project to proceed, telling Marathi news channel ABP Maza.
The MVA government did not grant permission for study of a floating solar project to be conducted over Jayakwadi’s dam. The project would reduce the dam’s evaporation and produce large amounts of electricity,” stated Karad.
In central Maharashtra, the Jayakwadi dam is on the Godavari River. It can be found in Aurangabad district.
He claimed that he had discussed the matter with two MVA ministers, but that it didn’t help.
Karad said that the solar power project at Jayakwadi would supply electricity to thousands of farmers during the day.
He also rebutted the opposition’s criticism that Maharashtra had lost some mega-investment project to Gujarat.
