Allied Blenders and Distillers Aims To Source 70% Power Required from Solar Energy in FY24

Allied Blenders and Distillers (ABD), announced that it will source 70% of its power required from solar energy.


ABD units used approximately 27 lakh units from local electricity boards in FY22.

According to a company statement, “Allied Blenders and Distillers Ltd (ABD) Ltd, India’s largest alcobev company, stated that it aims to replace 70% of its power with renewable solar energy in the next financial year (FY’24).”

ABD will install solar power plants in seven units. These plants will have a total installed capacity of 1,400 KW.

The ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) is to make a positive difference in the business and world. This initiative is similar to the ones taken by the Government of India and its respective states for cleaner energy, the statement said.

Shekhar Ramamurthy, Executive Deputy Chairman, ABD, said, “We have instilled ESG at the heart of our operations and are taking steps towards a model that will deliver cleaner energy and sustainable value. In addition to replacing 70% of our power with solar renewable power – ABD has embarked on a journey with a vision of minimizing wastage and zero discharge.” Bikram Basu, Vice President, Strategy, Marketing and Business Development at ABD, said, “It’s important to move to renewable and cleaner energy. This needs a thinking with ESG at the core of our beliefs and operations, current and future. We are taking the right steps in making the change.”
