Naturgy Energy Group SA and Enagas Renovable have announced their joint venture to construct a green hydrogen production plant named Robla Hub in La Robla, northern Spain.
The project will involve an investment of €485m and utilize multiple solar PV plants with a total capacity of 450 MWp.
The plant’s initial phase will feature an electrolysis plant with a capacity of 60 MW, which will eventually expand to 280 MW.
The Robla Hub project aims to address the challenge of meeting the increasing demand for sustainable energy in Spain and contribute towards achieving the country’s decarbonisation objective by 2050.
The green hydrogen production plant will play a critical role in promoting the hydrogen economy in Spain, benefiting the local industry and promoting hydrogen use in the mobility sector.
The project’s completion is expected to create approximately 5,000 jobs and contribute towards boosting Spain’s green hydrogen production capacity.
