Waaree Energies Limited, a prominent global renewable energy firm, has proudly announced the successful delivery of 850 MW solar PV modules for several projects underway in the United States, partnering with Acciona Energia, a leading Spanish renewable energy player with over 1 GW of operational solar, wind power, and industrial-scale energy storage ventures in the U.S.
The collaboration also unveiled a significant three-year agreement between the companies, where Waaree, a key player in the U.S. market, will continue supplying Acciona with an additional 1.5 GW of solar modules for upcoming U.S. projects from 2024 to 2026.
The 850 MW solar PV modules supplied by Waaree were utilized in four major solar endeavors: a 56 MW project in Fort Bend (Texas), 129 MW in High Point (Illinois), 288 MW in Union (Ohio), and a substantial 375 MW in the Red Tailed Hawk Solar (Texas) project. This successful delivery marks Waaree’s contribution to over 4 GW of solar module supplies to U.S. customers in 2023.
Delivered ahead of schedule, Waaree’s modules facilitated Acciona in meeting its project timelines, adhering to the highest standards of product quality and performance through rigorous internal and third-party testing processes.
Under the terms of the extended agreement, Waaree Energies is set to supply Acciona with an additional 1.5 GW of its N Type TOPCON modules for projects spanning 2024 to 2026. Notably, out of the total order of 2.34 GW, Waaree has already fulfilled the delivery of 850 MW.
Sunil Rathi, Director of Sales at Waaree Energies, India, expressed delight in the partnership, affirming Waaree’s reliability as a solar module supplier in the competitive U.S. market. He highlighted the company’s commitment to consistent module supply amidst supply chain challenges while upholding stringent quality standards.
Rafael Mateo Alcalรก, CEO of Acciona Energรญa, commended the successful partnership, recognizing Waaree’s dedication in delivering high-performance modules essential for Acciona’s U.S. projects. Alcalรก emphasized the collaboration’s strength and aligned commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions.
The U.S. solar sector, experiencing robust growth averaging 24% annually over a decade, is poised for continued expansion, constituting 45% of new generating capacity in the first half of 2023. The installation of solar PV systems in single-family homes is projected to rise from 4.4% to 15% by 2030, according to USA Facts analysis of government research cited.
To celebrate this milestone, a commemorative event witnessed the participation of senior management representatives from Waaree Energies and Acciona Energia.
