Keppel Corporation, represented by its Infrastructure Division, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC (Masdar) at COP28 in the UAE. The collaboration aims to jointly explore opportunities for decarbonisation and sustainability solutions in ASEAN and the Middle East.

Under the MOU, Keppel and Masdar will establish a strategic partnership to develop and deploy utility-scale renewable projects in ASEAN. The collaboration will also focus on enabling the cross-border flow of low-carbon energy through energy storage and grid transmission systems. Additionally, the partners will explore the feasibility of co-developing large-scale floating solar photovoltaic systems in Singapore and its region.

In the Middle East, the collaboration will identify and pursue opportunities in Energy-as-a-Service, Waste-to-Energy, and high energy-efficiency desalination treatment. Leveraging Keppel’s expertise in these areas and Masdar’s networks in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Oman, the partners aim to contribute to sustainable and efficient energy solutions.

The Keppel-Masdar MOU aligns with the Global Decarbonisation Accelerator (GDA) launched at COP28, which aims to triple global renewable energy capacity by 2030 and double the annual rate of energy-efficiency improvement to over 4% each year until 2030.
