Aboitiz Renewables marked Earth Month by working closely with its host communities across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to carry out a series of environmental activities. One of these efforts took place at the Bacutan Pawikan Sanctuary and Mangrove Reserve in Barangay Astorga, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur, where External Relations Supervisor for Southern Mindanao, Christe Torres, guided her team in preparing mangrove seedlings for a coastal rehabilitation activity alongside volunteers and community partners.

Across its different project sites, the company organized initiatives focused on restoring forests, protecting rivers, and strengthening coastal ecosystems. In Barangay Buhawen in San Marcelino, Zambales, over 1,000 fruit-bearing seedlings, including guyabano and calamansi, were planted. These trees help bring back green cover while also giving local caretakers future sources of food and livelihood. In Mindanao, 1,000 arabica coffee seedlings were planted along Mt. Apoโ€™s Sibulan Trail through the Kahoy Mo, Kinabuhi Ko project.

This effort was carried out with Bagobo Tagabawa leaders, local partners, and the Aboitiz Foundation. The coffee plants serve as a โ€œbiofenceโ€ that protects the mountainโ€™s strict conservation areas while providing Indigenous communities with sustainable income opportunities.Aboitiz Renewables Assistant Vice President for Safety, Health and Environment, Armando C. Ramos, Jr., emphasized that meaningful environmental work depends on strong collaboration.

These consistent efforts earned Aboitiz Renewables recognition from the DENRโ€“Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) XI for its support of the Adopt-an-Estero Program.

The company also participated in mangrove rehabilitation efforts in Calatrava, Negros Occidental, and Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. A total of 200 mangrove seedlings were planted in Barangay Lemery and 500 more at the Bacutan Pawikan Sanctuary and Mangrove Reserve.
