Nextracker has announced that its founder and CEO Dan Shugar was named Chief Trailblazer of the Year at S&P Global’s 25th Annual Platts Global Energy Awards. Judges selected Mr. Shugar for his leadership and contributions to industry-critical solar technology innovation, supporting the global energy transition to more reliable, secure, and cleaner energy.
Under Dan’s leadership, Nextracker successfully pioneered and commercialized the industry’s first independent-row, single-axis solar tracker systems and software solutions that optimize and increase energy production for utility-scale and ground-mounted distributed generation solar projects. With more than 85-gigawatts capacity across six continents, Nextracker’s proprietary technology helps plant owners overcome a broad range of topographical and climate conditions to produce more energy, lower operating costs and deliver significant ROI advantages.
Through technology innovation and establishing domestic manufacturing capacity partnerships, Dan Shugar is committed to introducing solutions to reduce costs and accelerate the global scaling of energy. An engineer by training and technology pioneer in the global solar power sector for 35 years, Dan Shugar has served in leadership positions and has been integral to the success of several solar power companies. Most recently, he founded Nextracker, now regarded as a market leader and one of the most successful solar technology companies in the world, as demonstrated by its successful initial public offering in February this year on the Nasdaq exchange. Mr. Shugar has also appeared as a keynote speaker for several global business, financial, and solar technology conferences around the world and has published over 50 technical publications.
