NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power generation company, has reported strong financial and operational performance for the quarter and half year ended September 30, 2026, with growth in standalone and consolidated profits. The company’s unaudited financial results for the second quarter of the financial year 2026-27 highlighted higher income, improved operational efficiency, increased profits from subsidiaries and strong performance across its coal-based power stations.
On a standalone basis, NTPC recorded total income of ₹46,842 crore in the second quarter of FY27, representing a 15.12% increase from ₹40,689 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. The company’s Profit After Tax (PAT) rose to ₹5,320 crore from ₹4,653 crore in Q2 FY26, registering growth of approximately 14%. The improvement was primarily attributed to higher power generation and enhanced operational efficiencies.
For the first half of FY27, NTPC’s standalone PAT increased to ₹10,662 crore, compared with ₹9,428 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year. This represented a year-on-year growth of 13.09%, reflecting the company’s continued financial progress during the six-month period.
On a consolidated basis, NTPC Group reported a PAT of ₹7,351 crore for Q2 FY27, compared with ₹5,225 crore in Q2 FY26, registering a substantial increase of 40.68%. The growth was supported by a significant improvement in the profitability of subsidiary companies. Profits from subsidiaries increased by 73% to ₹1,990 crore during the quarter, compared with ₹1,149 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
For the half year ended September 30, 2026, consolidated PAT stood at ₹14,247 crore, up from ₹11,334 crore in the corresponding period of FY26. The increase of approximately 25.71% highlights the contribution of the group’s businesses to its overall financial performance.
NTPC also maintained strong operational performance at its coal-based power stations. During the first half of FY27, the company’s coal stations achieved a Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 75.11%, exceeding the Rest of India coal station average of 68.35%. This performance demonstrates the company’s ability to maintain higher utilisation of its generation assets and support electricity supply requirements.
In addition to its financial results, NTPC’s Board of Directors declared the first interim dividend for FY27 at 30% of the paid-up equity share capital, equivalent to ₹3 per equity share. The declaration reflects the company’s continued focus on providing returns to shareholders while supporting its future growth and capital investment plans.
The results reinforce NTPC’s position in India’s power generation sector, supported by improved profitability, operational efficiency and contributions from its subsidiaries. The company’s performance during the first half of FY27 reflects its continued focus on reliable electricity generation and sustainable business growth.
