South Africa Launches Bid Window 7 For 5000 MW Renewable Energy Projects

The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy of South Africa announces the launch of the Seventh Bid Submission Phase (Bid Window 7) under the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers Procurement Programme (REIPPPP).

This phase aims to procure 5000 MW from Solar Photovoltaic and onshore Wind projects, including 1800 MW of Solar PV and 3200 MW of onshore Wind.

Prospective bidders are required to pay a non-refundable documentation fee of R25,000, complete an electronic registration form, and adhere to the submission deadlines. The Request for Proposals (RFP) will be available for download from December 14, 2023.

The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy invites bids for the second bid window of the Battery Energy Storage Capacity Independent Power Producers Procurement Programme (BESIPPPP). This round seeks proposals for 615 MW battery energy storage and Ancillary Services. The bid window includes eight facilities near identified Eskom substations.

Prospective bidders must register, pay a non-refundable fee of R25,000, and complete the electronic registration form. The Request for Proposals (RFP) will be available for download from December 14, 2023, with a bid submission deadline of April 30, 2024.
