In a firm commitment to global decarbonization, Iberdrola has solidified its dedication by entering a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Tosano supermarkets. The agreement entails the supply of clean energy over a decade from Iberdrola’s photovoltaic plants, benefiting 19 hypermarkets and nearly 4,000 employees under Tosano’s banner.

This strategic collaboration ensures a steady supply of energy to Tosano, with an estimated annual consumption of 20 GWh, derived from Iberdrola’s photovoltaic system. Such a move not only bolsters the company’s energy security and independence but also accelerates its transition towards decarbonization.

Projected to reduce approximately 6,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, this initiative reflects Tosano’s forward-thinking approach, aligning with decarbonization and sustainability objectives across the Northeast regions where its stores operate.

Andrea Tosano, President of Supermercati Tosano, emphasized the company’s commitment to renewable energy sources and the expansion of self-production capacity to enhance the utilization of clean energy.

Lorenzo Costantini, Country Manager of Iberdrola Clienti Italia, lauded companies embracing renewable sourcing, citing its profound environmental and operational benefits. He underscored the significance of off-site PPA agreements in stabilizing energy prices over the long term and eliminating volatility associated with fossil fuel-dependent energy supply.
