Federal Minister Habeck is set to engage in crucial bilateral discussions with key figures in Algeria, including President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Minister of Energy and Mining Mohamed Arkab, and Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production Ali Aoun. The agenda also includes a roundtable discussion on the southern H2 corridor, a vital component of the German-Algerian Energy Partnership. The roundtable will involve participation from Minister Habeck, along with representatives from German and Algerian businesses.

The central objective of the H2 corridor project is to streamline hydrogen imports through pipelines from Algeria and Tunisia to countries such as Italy, Austria, and Germany.

Expressing his thoughts on the visit, Federal Minister Habeck emphasized the longstanding history of stable energy and economic relations between Germany and Algeria. He noted the opportune timing of his visit, coinciding with a crucial period for the country and the region. Algeria, being the largest African country, holds significant potential for sustainable energy production and a climate-friendly transformation, especially in close proximity to Europe. Minister Habeck highlighted the role of German companies as potential key partners in supporting Algeria’s efforts to diversify its economy, ensuring resilience for the future, and generating employment opportunities. The visit aims to pave the way for collaborative efforts that contribute to the shared goals of sustainable development and economic growth.
