The United Arab Emirates (UAE) stands at the forefront of the global transition to clean and renewable energy, spearheading innovative projects and pioneering technologies to foster sustainability and combat climate change.

Dubai, in particular, has emerged as a trailblazer with its ambitious Clean Energy Strategy 2050. Initially aimed at diversifying energy sources, the strategy has evolved to target 100% clean energy production capacity by 2050. The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has aligned its vision with broader government plans, emphasizing net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

DEWA has ceased launching new fossil fuel-based energy projects and shifted focus to clean energy alternatives. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world’s largest single-site solar park, is a testament to this commitment. With plans to reach a production capacity of 5,000MW by 2030, the park represents a significant investment in renewable energy.

Additionally, DEWA has ventured into groundbreaking projects like the Green Hydrogen plant, producing hydrogen using solar power. This pioneering initiative has garnered international recognition, positioning the UAE as a leader in green hydrogen production.
