The Cyprus University of Technology (Tepak) and the municipality of Polemidia have announced a collaboration to develop a photovoltaic (PV) park with a capacity of around 9 megawatts (MW).
The agreement, signed on May 13 by Tepak’s rector Panayiotis Zafiris and Polemidia’s mayor Nicos Anastasiou, aims to harness renewable energy sources to meet the energy needs of both institutions and local residents in an eco-friendly manner.
Tepak intends to utilize the PV park for research purposes in renewable energy, focusing on advancing clean energy technologies and enhancing the efficiency of photovoltaic systems.
This partnership marks a significant milestone towards achieving energy self-sufficiency for Tepak and Polemidia, while also promoting the adoption of renewable energy sources across Cyprus.
The project is currently in the preliminary design phase and is awaiting necessary approvals.
