Munich-based start-up Climatos has introduced a new balcony solar system featuring solar modules from Chinese manufacturer Sunman. These innovative solar cells are encapsulated with the flexible plastic eArc, resulting in modules that weigh just 2.6 kilograms. The system is specifically designed for balconies and other installation sites that require a low load.

The installation process is simplified using stainless steel straps that function like cable ties. The systemโ€™s inverter, the EZ1-M model from APSystems, is Wi-Fi enabled, allowing customers to monitor their power production online.

Climatos offers this balcony solar system in various modular configurations, with prices starting at 399 euros. Each module measures 1 by 0.9 meters and has a thickness of two millimeters, with an efficiency rating of at least 18 percent.

“We founded Climatos to democratize access to solar solutions,” said Eva Spannagl, Climatos’ founder. “If you want to generate electricity with the sun today, you either need to own a roof and make a significant investment or deal with heavy and bulky glass panels. Our lightweight panels, weighing just 2.6 kilograms, are extremely efficient, robust, and easy to handle.”
