Castillo Engineering has been appointed as the Engineer of Record (EOR) for three portfolios of community solar projects in Illinois, totaling 56 MW across 14 projects. The announcement comes in the first quarter of the year, highlighting Castillo’s role in overseeing fixed-tilt, bifacial solar module installations across various sites.
The portfolios include projects with Recon Corporation, totaling 23 MW across three projects, seven projects totaling 21 MW, and four projects totaling 12 MW. Castillo Engineering will utilize its in-house expertise in civil, electrical, structural engineering, and power system studies, supported by its Project Management Office (PMO), to manage these projects. Completion is scheduled by Q1 of 2025.
Scott Walker, President of Recon Corporation, emphasized Castillo’s comprehensive capabilities and efficiency in project delivery: “We continue to select Castillo due to their extensive experience in the region completing projects cost effectively and efficiently.”
Illinois has seen a significant rise in community solar capacity, tripling installations over the past four years. Castillo Engineering has expanded its capacity to meet the growing demand, bolstered by its integrated civil engineering services and PMO.
Christopher Castillo, CEO of Castillo Engineering, expressed gratitude for the market’s response and highlighted the firm’s growth: “We’re grateful that the market has been receptive to our service offerings, spanning all relevant disciplines for large-scale solar projects and recognizing our over three decades of design and engineering expertise.”
Castillo Engineering looks forward to optimizing efficiencies across the three project portfolios and expanding its footprint throughout the Midwest.
