PT PLN (Persero) has reinforced its collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to expedite Indonesiaโs energy transition through various renewable energy and electricity modernization initiatives. This renewed commitment was formalized with the signing of the continuation of the Terms of Reference (TOR) at the PLN Head Office in Jakarta.
Wanhar, Director of Electricity Program Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), praised the ongoing USAID cooperation, noting its tangible contributions to Indonesiaโs electricity sector, particularly through the Sustainable Energy for Indonesia’s Advancing Resilience (SINAR) program. “Thank you, USAID, for accommodating priority programs from both the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and PLN. We aim for the SINAR program’s planning, implementation, and monitoring to be transparent both technically and administratively,” said Wanhar.
Hartanto Wibowo, PLNโs Corporate Planning and Business Development Director, outlined six key objectives for the USAID-PLN collaboration: supporting the development of energy transition programs and roadmaps, accelerating renewable energy system implementation, enhancing organizational structures, modernizing operational procedures, fostering cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources on energy transitions, and promoting gender equality and social inclusion programs. “I hope we can work together to ensure the success of this program, creating significant value for PLN,” Wibowo stated.
Legal and Human Capital Management Director Yusuf Didi Setiarto emphasized the substantial and valuable impact of the SINAR program on Indonesia and PLN. He highlighted that this collaboration, which builds on an initial agreement signed on August 3, 2022, has supported PLN in developing decarbonization scenarios and boosting renewable energy investment. “We hope that PLN will not only gain knowledge but also acquire technology and enhance human resources through this collaboration,” Didi remarked.
USAID Indonesia Environment Director Brian Dusza acknowledged the longstanding partnership between the United States, Indonesia, and PLN. He expressed confidence that this collaboration will significantly impact Indonesiaโs energy transition toward a greener and more inclusive future. “The United States is proud to partner with Indonesia and PLN to advance sustainable energy in Indonesiaโs energy sector transition,” said Dusza.
This enhanced cooperation marks a significant step forward in Indonesia’s efforts to achieve a sustainable energy future.
