PT PLN (Persero), in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), has launched the New Electricity Installation Assistance (BPBL) program in the Poris Gaga sub-district, Batu Ceper, Tangerang, Banten. The program was officially distributed marking a significant step in PLN’s commitment to supporting equitable energy access across Indonesia.
The BPBL program, initiated by Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, aims to provide reliable electricity to underserved communities. The distribution of this program was warmly received by beneficiaries, including Nia, a local resident. Nia, who previously relied on her neighbors for electricity, expressed her gratitude for the new installation.
โPreviously, I depended on neighbors and paid Rp60 thousand every month. Now, my home is independently powered, which is more comfortable and cost-effective. I am very thankful to PLN for this assistance,โ Nia shared.
Mulyanto, a member of Commission VII, underscored the vital role of electricity in improving people’s lives and commended PLN and the Government for their efforts. โElectricity is a fundamental need. This program will ensure that more people have access to it. We will ensure its sustainability and appreciate the collaboration with PLN and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources,โ he said.
Husni Saffrudin, Coordinator of Electric Power Infrastructure Evaluation at the Directorate General of Electricity, also praised PLN for its role in making the BPBL program successful. He noted that the electrification ratio in Banten has now reached an impressive 99.99 percent. โThanks to PLN, the BPBL program, which started in 2022, will continue in collaboration with Commission VII,โ Saffrudin stated.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo reaffirmed PLNโs commitment to supporting the BPBL program. He revealed that the program aims to light up 122,000 households nationally, with a planned increase to 150,000 across 36 provinces. โThis program highlights PLNโs dedication to providing equal electricity access and boosting community welfare,โ Prasodjo said.
Moch. Andy Adchaminoerdin, General Manager of PLN Banten Main Distribution Unit (UID), noted that the BPBL initiative in Poris Gaga is part of the 2024 target, which includes lighting 1,771 households in Banten, with plans to increase to 3,225 households. โThe BPBL program in Banten is progressing well, and we are committed to meeting our targets,โ he added.
