BluPine Energy, a prominent renewable energy services company backed by global infrastructure investor Actis, has announced the successful commissioning of a 120 MW solar project in Gujarat. This project features a 70 MW solar plant at Radhanpur and a 50 MW solar plant at Nenava, both located in the northern region of the state.
This significant milestone underscores BluPine Energy’s dedication to promoting sustainable energy solutions. The project reached financial closure under the GUVNL 16 tender, with green financing provided by Standard Chartered Bank.
The solar plants are expected to generate approximately 3.23 lakh MWh of solar energy annually, offsetting around 2.96 lakh tons of CO2 emissions and supplying power to approximately 2.7 lakh households. Completed in just 18 months, the project engaged over 750 skilled and unskilled workers, achieving more than 500,000 safe man-hours over a 500-acre site. The generated electricity will be supplied to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
As part of its community engagement efforts, BluPine Energy has also launched a Utility-Scale Renewable Energy Technician Training Program in Gujarat, successfully training 140 youths. This initiative aims to address the skills gap in the sector and improve the quality of life in local communities.
Neerav Nanavaty, CEO of BluPine Energy, expressed gratitude for the projectโs completion, stating, โWith the commissioning of its first greenfield project, BluPine reaffirms its commitment to the state of Gujarat and to helping meet the renewable requirements of Indiaโs energy sector. It aligns seamlessly with Indiaโs target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030. I extend my sincere gratitude to the Gujarat State Government and the local administration for their constant support and guidance throughout this project.โ
With this latest addition, BluPine Energy’s renewable energy capacity in Gujarat has now reached 540 MW for solar and 290 MW for wind, secured through various tenders from GUVNL. The company’s total renewable capacity has now expanded to 2.6 GW, with projects in various stages of operation, construction, and advanced development.
