TAQA Water Solutions has announced a landmark AED 95 million project to develop a cutting-edge Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system across its wastewater treatment infrastructure. The initiative, unveiled at the IDRA World Congress 2024, underscores the companyโ€™s commitment to environmental sustainability, operational efficiency, and expanded treatment capacity.

The project, awarded to Electro Mechanical Company LLC with consulting support from TVA Engineering, will leverage advanced Siemens technology to integrate and optimise TAQA Water Solutionsโ€™ extensive network. A centralised SCADA system will enable real-time monitoring and management of wastewater treatment plants, spanning over 13,000 kilometers of infrastructure, 43 treatment plants, and 260 pumping stations in Abu Dhabi.

The SCADA system will employ over 2,000 high-performance sensors and instruments, connecting 91% of TAQA Water Solutions’ wastewater collection and treatment assets. This integration will enhance operational oversight, reduce carbon emissions by 13%โ€”equivalent to nearly 6,500 metric tonnes annuallyโ€”and lower maintenance costs by 12%, achieving total savings of more than AED 10 million per year.
