Smart Roof Solar Solutions and Gourav EnerGen India have emerged as winners in the Power Grid Corporation of India’s recent auction for rooftop solar installations. Under the government’s PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, both companies secured contracts to install 1 MW of rooftop solar systems each on POWERGRID buildings located in India’s western regions. Each project is valued at ₹3.68 crore.
In addition to the two main winners, the remaining 1 MW of capacity in the western region will be distributed among other qualified bidders. These include Suncraft Energy, Sunshell Power, and Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments. The tender was initially floated in February 2025, aiming to install a total of 7 MW of rooftop solar systems across both northern and western parts of the country.
Out of the 7 MW, 3 MW was allocated to the western region, which covers states and union territories such as Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu. The selected companies will be responsible for supplying, installing, and commissioning the rooftop solar systems on POWERGRID’s buildings.
The scope of work also includes providing a three-phase net meter along with a reverse power flow scheme or a zero export controller, depending on requirements. If reverse power blocking or zero export control is needed in place of a net meter, it must be included at no extra cost. The installation must be completed within six months of receiving the work order, and the contractors will provide maintenance services for five years after commissioning.
