German companies are strengthening their foothold in the Philippinesโ renewable energy sector following a high-level conference held on June 24, 2025, at Shangri-La Makati.
The event, organized by the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI) in collaboration with the Renewable Energy Association of the Philippines (REAP), spotlighted German innovations in smart grid systems, energy storage, and clean energy generation. It was part of a broader initiative under the โEnergy Solutions โ Made in Germanyโ program, backed by Germanyโs Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
Around 70 participantsโincluding German small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Philippine industry leaders, and government representativesโattended the week-long engagement aimed at fostering technology exchange and investment collaboration.
In her keynote speech, Department of Energy Undersecretary Rowena Guevara emphasized the strategic role of smart grid technologies and energy storage in accelerating the countryโs energy transition.
โOur drive for energy transition will not only build sustainable energy infrastructure for future generations, but also reap the economic benefits of retaining a highly skilled workforce in the country,โ Guevara said.
GPCCI Vice President Tristan Arwen G. Loveres highlighted the success of the event in facilitating 68 business-to-business (B2B) meetings, creating direct linkages between Philippine stakeholders and German technology providers.
Among the German firms that participated were Bae Batterien, Blueberry Energy, Fitchtner GmbH, H2 Core Systems, Reprocon GmbH, SkySails Power, and SMA Altenso GmbH.
GPCCI President Marie Antoniette Mariano underscored Germanyโs long-term commitment to the Philippines, stating, โThis mission reflects Germanyโs commitment to building lasting partnerships in sectors with real impact.โ
The GPCCI continues to play a vital role in representing German businesses in the Philippines, supporting market entry, business expansion, and policy engagement through its network of over 300 member companies.
