The Abydos-II project represents one of the largest solar-plus-storage developments in Africa and plays a significant role in Egyptโ€™s strategy to generate 42% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. The plant is scheduled for commissioning in May 2026 and is expected to significantly boost the countryโ€™s clean energy capacity.

Located across 20 square kilometers in the Aswan Governorate, the facility will produce approximately 3,000 GWh of electricity annuallyโ€”enough to power more than 500,000 homes. It is also projected to offset over 1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year, contributing meaningfully to Egyptโ€™s climate goals.
