JA Solar, a global leader in the photovoltaic industry, has been selected to supply one gigawatt of its high-efficiency DeepBlue 4.0 Pro solar modules for two major solar power projects, Banka and Bilasuvar, in Azerbaijan. These projects are being developed by Masdar, the UAEโs leading clean energy company, and represent the largest utility-scale solar developments in Azerbaijan to date.
Once operational, the Banka and Bilasuvar solar farms are expected to generate approximately 1.53 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, helping to avoid around 1.15 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. The projects will play a key role in Azerbaijanโs strategy to diversify its energy sources and accelerate progress toward its renewable energy targets.
JA Solarโs DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules are specifically designed to operate in challenging environments, such as coastal areas that experience high humidity, strong winds, salt exposure, and dust. These modules offer high durability, strong resistance to corrosion and extreme weather, and long-term stable performance. Their advanced technology helps lower the levelized cost of electricity while increasing energy output, making them ideal for large-scale, high-impact installations.
Beyond product innovation, JA Solar continues to prioritize sustainability in its operations around the world. The company maintains high standards of supply chain governance and aligns its practices with international sustainability disclosure frameworks. It collaborates with organizations like the IFRS Foundation to improve transparency, accountability, and responsible sourcing across its global value chain.
Aiqing Yang, Executive President of JA Solar, stated, “We are proud to contribute to this landmark project with our DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules. Masdar has long been a trusted partner, and we sincerely appreciate their continued confidence in our products and expertise. Together, we are committed to delivering reliable, high-efficiency solutions that promote a more sustainable future.โ
JA Solarโs involvement in the Banka and Bilasuvar projects reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting the global shift to low-carbon energy. Masdar, the project developer, has rapidly expanded its renewable energy portfolio over the last two years, increasing total capacity from 20 gigawatts in 2022 to 51 gigawatts by the end of 2024. With projects in more than 40 countries, Masdar aims to reach 100 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity and become a major global producer of green hydrogen by 2030.
