The Maharashtra government has signed investment agreements worth more than ₹10,880 crore to strengthen solar energy and clean-energy manufacturing in the Vidarbha region, marking a major push toward renewable power expansion and green industrial growth.

A significant share of the announced investments is directed toward the solar manufacturing ecosystem, with companies committing capital to set up solar cell, module, and battery storage facilities. Among the largest proposals is a multi-thousand-crore investment in an integrated solar cell and energy storage manufacturing plant, aimed at supporting India’s domestic renewable supply chain and reducing dependence on imports.

The proposed clean-energy projects are expected to enhance renewable generation capacity, support grid-scale energy storage, and accelerate Maharashtra’s transition toward low-carbon power infrastructure. Officials noted that these investments will contribute to meeting the state’s long-term targets for renewable energy adoption, emissions reduction, and energy security.

In addition to boosting power capacity, the solar and clean-energy projects are projected to generate thousands of new jobs in manufacturing, engineering, operations, and allied services, strengthening Vidarbha’s role as an emerging hub for green industrial development.
