The groundbreaking ceremony, held on International Clean Energy Day, underscored the projectโ€™s positioning at the intersection of hyperscale digital infrastructure and integrated green energy systems with grid-responsive capabilities.

The event was officiated by Aminuddin Harun, Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan, highlighting the projectโ€™s strategic importance to the stateโ€™s economic acceleration agenda and its alignment with the Malaysia Vision Valley 2.0 (MVV 2.0) corridor.

Strategically located within the NS Semiconductor Valley in Senawang, the Nexus Yang campus has been designed as a hyperscale, AI-ready facility with an initial target IT load of approximately 350 MW. The project is expected to cater to global cloud providers, hyperscalers and enterprises across the Asia-Pacific region, supporting applications ranging from scalable cloud services to high-density AI workloads.

According to the company, the site was selected following an extensive evaluation process focused on connectivity, infrastructure readiness and long-term scalability. The development benefits from MVV 2.0โ€™s proximity to Greater Kuala Lumpur and southern growth hubs such as Johor and Singapore, as well as access to scalable power infrastructure and a supportive policy environment for advanced digital industries.

The project will be delivered in four phases, with an anticipated long-term capital investment of approximately MYR 20 billion upon full build-out. During construction, more than 140 direct roles within Vena Nexus are expected to be created in project and construction management, alongside an estimated average of 600 indirect jobs per phase through specialist contractors and service providers. Once operational, the campus is projected to support around 190 permanent high-skilled roles in engineering, operations and related services, while generating over MYR 1 billion annually in operating expenditure across local supply chains.

Vena Nexus is integrated with Vena Energy, which operates over 10 GW of renewable capacity across the Asia-Pacific region. The companies plan to leverage shared development capabilities to design hybrid green power systems with flexible, demand-responsive grid connections, supporting energy efficiency and embedded decarbonisation pathways for customers.

Simone Grasso, Global Head of Vena Nexus and Chief Investment Officer of Vena Group, stated that the Nexus Yang campus reflects the companyโ€™s commitment to future-ready and sustainable digital infrastructure. He noted that flexible, grid-responsive systems are expected to become a defining feature of next-generation data centres, particularly as AI-driven power demand accelerates.

The project has also received backing from Malaysiaโ€™s digital economy agencies. Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) CEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil said the investment reinforces Malaysiaโ€™s position as a strategic hub for AI-ready infrastructure and sustainable digital growth. He added that integrated renewable energy solutions within large-scale data centre projects strengthen Negeri Sembilanโ€™s appeal as a destination for regional and global digital investments.

In parallel, Vena Nexus is advancing Nexus Gibbs, a planned 350 MW green data centre campus in Johor, designed to feature a larger co-located hybrid solar and battery storage system. Together, Nexus Yang and Nexus Gibbs are intended to establish a dual-hub network supporting Malaysiaโ€™s ambitions to lead in sustainable digital infrastructure development across the region.
