Hero Future Energies (HFE), the clean-energy arm of the Hero Group, has been honoured with the Innovation in Climate Change Award at the 16th edition of the Aegis Graham Bell Awards. Supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, these awards are regarded as one of Indiaโs leading recognitions for innovation in technology, science and solutions that advance sustainability and address critical societal challenges.
The award acknowledges Hero Future Energiesโ pioneering Green Hydrogen project implemented at the manufacturing facility of Rockman Industries in Tirupati. This initiative stands out for integrating green hydrogen with PNG and LPG in industrial furnace operationsโan area traditionally classified as hard-to-abate due to high energy intensity and limited clean-fuel alternatives. By successfully demonstrating hydrogen blending in an industrial setting, the project offers a real-world pathway to lowering emissions while maintaining efficiency and operational stability.
With an annual green-hydrogen production capacity of 25 tonnes per annum, the project allows hydrogen to be blended with existing fuels, helping reduce approximately 206 tonnes of COโ emissions each year. Its design makes it suitable for replication across several carbon-intensive sectors such as metals, cement, petrochemicals and heavy manufacturing. As industries look for practical solutions to reduce their environmental impact, this model provides a scalable blueprint for integrating clean energy into conventional processes, supporting Indiaโs broader decarbonisation and industrial-sustainability vision.
Commenting on the recognition, Srivatsan Iyer, Global CEO of Hero Future Energies, noted that decarbonising industrial operations remains one of the most demanding challenges in the global energy transition. He highlighted that the green-hydrogen project at Rockman Industries shows how emerging clean-energy technologies can be incorporated into existing systems to significantly cut emissions, without disrupting productivity. He further emphasised the companyโs commitment to delivering scalable clean-energy solutions that help accelerate the shift toward a low-carbon economy.
Hero Future Energies continues to lead the development of Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) solutions in India by integrating solar, wind and energy-storage systems to provide reliable, round-the-clock green power. With a global portfolio of nearly 7.2 GW of operational and pipeline assets, the company develops, owns and operates renewable-energy projects supported by long-term power-purchase agreements with central and state utilities, SECI, and commercial and industrial consumers. This recognition further strengthens Hero Future Energiesโ position as a key innovator in Indiaโs clean-energy landscape and highlights its continued role in enabling sustainable industrial transformation.
