Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (Jaipur Discom) has announced its new โ€œTariff for Supply of Electricity-2026,โ€ which came into effect from April 1, 2026. The update has been issued following directions from the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission and brings several changes in tariff structure and billing for consumers.

One of the key highlights is the introduction of the Fuel and Power Purchase Adjustment Surcharge (FPPAS). This system allows electricity rates to change every month based on fuel costs and power purchase expenses. However, the surcharge will be added to bills after a gap of three months. For example, changes in April will appear in July bills. This step aims to reduce sudden increases in electricity charges and give the Discom flexibility to manage rising costs.

For residential users, the Domestic Service category continues to cover households and institutions such as orphanages, water supply systems, and gaushalas. Consumers using up to 50 units per month are classified as small domestic users, while those consuming more fall under general domestic users. Fixed charges are based on average monthly consumption of the previous year, starting from โ‚น150 and going up to โ‚น800 for high-usage households.

The tariff also promotes energy efficiency through a Time of Day (ToD) system for consumers with loads above 10 kW. Under this, users get a 10% rebate during off-peak hours between 12 pm and 4 pm. At the same time, higher charges of 5% to 10% are applied during peak hours in the morning and evening. Consumers installing solar water heating systems will also receive a benefit of 25 paise per unit.

Special provisions have been made for weaker sections of society. Consumers with BPL and Astha cards will be charged 475 paise per unit for the first 50 units consumed each month. Rural domestic users will receive a 10% rebate on energy charges if their supply is limited to standard hours.

To support digital payments, the Discom has removed online transaction charges for bills up to โ‚น5,000 when paid through its official portal. For higher amounts, card payments may attract charges, but internet banking and Bharat Bill Payment System transactions will remain free.

A regulatory surcharge of โ‚น0.70 to โ‚น1.00 per unit has also been introduced to recover regulatory assets. Any disputes related to the new tariff will first be handled by Jaipur Discom, with the commission acting as the final authority.
