AMPIN Energy Transition has commissioned Odisha’s first group captive commercial and industrial (C&I) open access solar project, marking a major milestone in the state’s renewable energy transition.

The 60 MWp solar project, developed under the OREP-22 policy, is located in Kantabanji and represents a significant step in implementing Odisha’s renewable energy roadmap. The company said it has been involved in the project from the policy publication stage through to execution and commissioning.

The project was executed end-to-end by AMPIN, covering land acquisition, engineering, construction, and commissioning, with grid connectivity established at the 132 kV Kantabanji substation.

The solar plant will supply clean power to a group of leading industrial and commercial consumers, including Bharti Airtel Limited, Jindal Stainless Limited, Emami Paper Mills Limited, and Quality CARE Hospitals.

According to the company, the project is expected to replace nearly 50% of conventional grid power consumption for participating corporates, enabling energy cost savings of 25–30% while reducing carbon emissions by approximately 77 metric tonnes annually, equivalent to planting around 3.6 million trees each year.

The participating group captive consumers will also benefit from a waiver on transmission charges and electricity duty for the next 20 years under the OREP-22 policy framework.

AMPIN further stated that an additional 45 MWp capacity is currently under construction, with another 50 MWp in the pipeline for new group captive partners. With this expansion, the company’s total renewable energy portfolio in Odisha is expected to reach 200 MW, strengthening its presence in the state’s clean energy market.
