Pace Digitek Limited Partners with NEC XON Systems Proprietary Limited to Expand BESS Footprint Across Africa

Pace Digitek Limited, along with its subsidiary Lineage Power Private Limited, has entered into an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partnership with NEC XON Systems Proprietary Limited to accelerate the deployment of grid-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across key African markets.

Under the agreement, NEC XON will take charge of marketing, distribution, and deployment of Pace Digitekโ€™s energy storage portfolio across South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, and Mauritius, while Pace Digitek and LPPL will continue to focus on product development, manufacturing, and supply.

The partnership marks Pace Digitekโ€™s strategic entry into select African energy markets, leveraging NEC XONโ€™s established regional footprint and customer network. The collaboration comes at a time when Africaโ€™s energy storage market is witnessing growing momentum, supported by rising renewable energy penetration, increasing grid stability requirements, and stronger demand for dependable power infrastructure.

By combining Pace Digitekโ€™s manufacturing capabilities in integrated BESS solutions with NEC XONโ€™s regional market access and systems integration expertise, the partnership aims to create a scalable business model for grid-scale energy storage deployment.

According to the companies, the alliance will help Pace Digitek build structured demand pipelines in new geographies while strengthening its international execution capabilities. For NEC XON, the collaboration broadens its energy solutions portfolio with integrated BESS offerings, enhancing its ability to address the regionโ€™s evolving infrastructure and energy resilience requirements.

Rajiv Maddisetty, Whole-time Director of Pace Digitek, said the partnership represents a significant milestone in the companyโ€™s global expansion strategy and will support the ramp-up of its BESS manufacturing capacity.

Magnus Coetzee said the partnership aligns with NEC XONโ€™s strategy to deliver reliable and scalable grid-scale battery storage solutions while supporting resilient infrastructure development across its operating markets.
