Shakti Pumps Secures ₹155.24 Crore Order For 6,580 Solar Water Pumps In Maharashtra

Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has secured a major domestic contract from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to support solar-powered irrigation in the state. The company has received a Letter of Empanelment for the supply and installation of 6,580 off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumping systems across Maharashtra. The project is being executed under the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana, a key initiative aimed at promoting solar energy use in agriculture.

As part of the contract, Shakti Pumps will handle the complete scope of work, including design, manufacturing, supply, transportation, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar pumping systems. The order consists of different pump capacities, including 3 HP, 5 HP, and 7.5 HP units, catering to varying agricultural requirements.

The total value of the contract is approximately Rs. 155.24 crore, including GST, with a base value of Rs. 142.55 crore. This order marks a significant addition to the company’s growing portfolio in the renewable energy segment, particularly in solar-powered irrigation solutions.

According to the company, the execution timeline for the project is set at 60 days from the date of issuance of the work order or Notice to Proceed. This relatively short timeline indicates a fast-track implementation approach to ensure timely benefits for farmers.

Shakti Pumps also clarified that the contract is not a related party transaction. The company confirmed that neither its promoters nor any group companies have any interest in MSEDCL.

This development reinforces Shakti Pumps’ position as a key contributor to India’s renewable energy goals, especially in the agricultural sector, where solar-powered solutions are increasingly being adopted to reduce dependency on conventional energy sources and improve sustainability.
