Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has invited bids for a major battery energy storage project in West Bengal as part of the state’s growing clean energy infrastructure development. The tender has been issued for Package WB-BESS-02, which involves the establishment of a 100 MW / 400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Kharagpur in West Bengal.
The project forms a significant part of a larger initiative aimed at deploying a total of 750 MW / 3000 MWh of standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems across multiple locations in the state. The procurement is being carried out through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route, which is designed to ensure transparent and competitive selection of contractors.
According to the tender notice, the project falls under the power and energy sector and is categorized as a works contract focused on electrical works. While the estimated project value and Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) have been listed as zero in the tender document, interested bidders will be required to pay a non-refundable tender fee of ₹25,000.
The entire bidding process will be conducted online through the PRANIT Portal, Power Grid’s e-tendering platform. The tender is available under RFX Number 5002005391. The notice was officially published on June 1, 2026, at 6:09 PM, marking the beginning of the bid submission process.
As per the schedule, document sales commenced immediately after publication and will remain open until June 20, 2026, at 11:55 PM. Eligible bidders have been allowed to submit their soft copy bids from June 1 onwards. The deadline for online submission of bids has been set for June 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
The submitted bids will be opened shortly after the closing time on June 22, 2026, at 11:30 AM. At present, the tender notice does not mention any pre-bid meeting or hard copy document submission requirements. Interested companies are advised to carefully review all eligibility conditions and pre-qualification requirements available on the portal before participating in the bidding process.
The procurement process is being managed by Power Grid’s Corporate Contracts Department. The Senior Deputy General Manager (CC-CS), identified by employee number 60001661, has been designated as the Tender Inviting Officer. Official correspondence related to the tender will be handled through the department’s office in Gurgaon. With the submission deadline approaching later this month, prospective bidders are expected to complete all formalities and submit their proposals within the stipulated timeline.
