Infinity Power, Africa’s largest pure-play renewable energy company, has signed three major agreements during the Africa Energy Forum (AEF) 2026 in Cape Town, strengthening its efforts to accelerate the deployment of large-scale clean energy projects across the continent.
The agreements, signed with leading international technology and engineering firms, support the development of renewable energy projects in South Africa and Egypt and represent a significant step toward advancing the company’s growing project pipeline. Infinity Power aims to achieve 10 GW of operational renewable energy capacity by 2032.
The company has significantly expanded its portfolio over the past two years. During 2024 and 2025, Infinity Power added 2.56 GW of solar capacity, 200 MW of wind power capacity, and 720 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) across projects in Egypt, South Africa, and Côte d’Ivoire. The developments include 1.28 GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in South Africa under Bid Window 7, 1.2 GW of solar PV and 720 MWh BESS projects in Egypt’s Aswan and Minya regions, the 200 MW Ras Ghareb wind farm in Egypt, and two solar PV projects totaling 80 MW in Côte d’Ivoire under the Scaling Solar initiative.
Commenting on the agreements, Infinity Power Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Nayer Fouad said the partnerships demonstrate the company’s commitment to transforming a strong development pipeline into executable projects. He noted that collaboration with globally recognized technology and engineering partners will strengthen Infinity Power’s ability to deliver utility-scale renewable energy projects efficiently across key African markets while supporting the continent’s transition to clean and reliable energy.
Ashish Ranjan, Chief Technical Officer of Infinity Power, stated that the agreements will help ensure the company’s projects are developed and executed according to high standards of efficiency, reliability, and performance. He added that Infinity Power remains focused on deploying advanced technologies and expertise to support long-term sustainable energy systems throughout Africa.
EPC Contract Award for Highveld Solar PV Project
As part of the forum, Infinity Power signed a conditional Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract award with Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy for the 285.6 MWp Highveld Solar PV Project in South Africa, which forms part of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) Bid Window 7 portfolio awarded to the company.
The agreement was signed by Shiv Shankar Pandey, Executive Vice President of Sterling and Wilson. Once operational, the project is expected to supply clean electricity to approximately 167,000 homes while avoiding around 660,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually. The project is also expected to generate employment opportunities during its construction phase.
Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Group Global CEO Chandra Kishore Thakur said the project reinforces the company’s growing presence in South Africa and reflects its commitment to supporting the country’s energy transition through the delivery of large-scale solar infrastructure.
PowerChina Selected for Ngwedi Cluster Solar Projects
Infinity Power also signed a Letter of Award with PowerChina Guizhou Engineering Co., Ltd. for EPC works related to the 488 MWp Ngwedi Cluster Solar PV Projects in South Africa.
The agreement was signed by Mu Xiaoqing, General Manager of PCG International Company. The solar projects are expected to provide electricity to nearly 289,000 homes and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 1.1 million tonnes annually.
Mu Xiaoqing stated that the project highlights PowerChina Guizhou’s commitment to supporting South Africa’s renewable energy goals through the delivery of efficient and sustainable utility-scale power infrastructure.
AIKO Energy to Supply Modules for Egypt’s Nefer Minya Solar Project
A separate ceremony at AEF 2026 recognized the earlier signing of a Letter of Award between Infinity Power and AIKO Energy, in collaboration with project partner Hassan Allam Utilities Energy, for the supply of photovoltaic modules to the 1.2 GWp Nefer Minya solar project in Egypt.
The agreement, originally signed during the first quarter of the year, was formalized by Justin Yuan, President of Overseas Sales at AIKO Energy. The project is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power approximately 1.4 million homes and prevent around 1.6 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
Justin Yuan said the partnership strengthens AIKO’s presence in the Middle East and North Africa region and creates opportunities for future cooperation on solar and energy storage projects. He noted that the company’s ABC solar technology is designed to perform efficiently under harsh desert conditions.
Supporting a 16 GW Renewable Energy Pipeline
The agreements announced at AEF 2026 further support Infinity Power’s strategy of advancing its 16 GW renewable energy pipeline across Africa. The company said collaboration with global and regional partners remains central to its approach, combining technical expertise, financial capabilities, and local market knowledge to accelerate the deployment of scalable clean energy solutions across the continent.
The latest signings mark another milestone in Infinity Power’s efforts to expand renewable energy generation and improve access to reliable, sustainable electricity throughout Africa.
