MKC Infrastructure Limited has officially started work on the NTECL Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) 300 MWh Project with a ground-breaking ceremony held at the Vallur Thermal Plant in Tamil Nadu. The project marks an important step in expanding energy storage infrastructure and supporting the transition toward a cleaner and more reliable power system in the state.
The ceremony was attended by Shri Sanjay Kumar Sinha, CEO of NTECL and Executive Director of NTPC Limited, along with Parikshit Bambhania, Director of MKC Infrastructure Limited. Representatives from both organizations participated in the event, highlighting the significance of the project and their commitment to its successful implementation.
The 300 MWh Battery Energy Storage System is expected to play a key role in improving grid stability by storing electricity and supplying it during periods of high demand. As renewable energy generation continues to increase, energy storage systems have become essential for balancing power supply and demand, reducing grid fluctuations, and improving the reliability of electricity networks.
The project also reflects the growing focus on clean energy solutions in Tamil Nadu, one of India’s leading renewable energy states. By integrating battery storage with the existing power infrastructure, the initiative is expected to support better utilization of renewable energy while enhancing the overall efficiency of the power grid.
MKC Infrastructure Limited said the project represents another milestone in its journey toward developing sustainable energy infrastructure. The company reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to India’s clean energy goals by delivering projects that strengthen the country’s power sector and improve energy resilience. Once completed, the NTECL BESS 300 MWh Project is expected to support a more stable, efficient, and sustainable electricity network while contributing to the nation’s long-term energy transition objectives.
