Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has announced the successful commissioning of the “Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) in Rajasthan (20 GW) under Phase-III Part-H.” The project became fully operational on July 4, 2026, marking another significant milestone in strengthening India’s renewable energy transmission infrastructure.
The company disclosed the development through a regulatory filing submitted to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE on August 4, 2026, in accordance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
According to the filing, POWERGRID received the Declaration of Commercial Operation (DOCO) through email on August 3, 2026. Although the notification had originally been issued on July 9, 2026, the company confirmed its receipt only recently and informed the stock exchanges as part of its regulatory compliance requirements.
The transmission project was initially implemented by POWERGRID Beawar Dausa Transmission Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. However, following an order issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on January 27, 2026, the subsidiary was merged with POWERGRID Vataman Transmission Limited. The amalgamation came into effect on March 1, 2026, making the latter responsible for the project.
The commissioning of the transmission system is expected to play a crucial role in evacuating renewable energy generated from Rajasthan’s Renewable Energy Zones to the national grid. Rajasthan is one of India’s leading renewable energy hubs, with significant solar and wind power potential. The new transmission infrastructure will enhance the country’s ability to integrate large volumes of clean energy into the power network while supporting grid reliability and stability.
The regulatory disclosure was signed by Anjana Luthra, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. The successful operationalization of the project represents another important step in expanding India’s interstate transmission network and enabling the efficient transfer of renewable power to demand centres across the country.
